Stop, Watch and Listen

I found this so cool.

GI is particularly strict about waiting for the pedestrian lights to turn green.  I grew up in a country where there were no pedestrian lights (or even if there were any, they may not have been taken seriously), I am thankful that people are trying to make safe roads even safer.

A Time for Everything

We all know that Solomon was a wise king.
What I did not realise was that he was also a wonderful poet.
These verses want me to go back to the bible and check out what other things King Solomon wrote.

    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

1 There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:
2 A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted.
3 A time for killing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building.
4 A time for tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing.
5 A time for throwing stones away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain from embracing.
6 A time for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding.
7 A time for tearing, a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking.
8 A time for loving, a time for hating; a time for war, a time for peace.

Everything that happens in this world, happens in God's time.

Even these little flowers on the road know that there is time for everything.

It is still early when I walk to mass.
The sun is not quite as bright and the weather is still cool.
The flowers hide inside their petals.

By the time I head back home,
the sun is shining and it is much warmer.
This is what the flowers look like.

Help Me, Only One Cannoli. You're My Only Hope

The kids don't think  the Star Wars movies are worth watching.  How will they appreciate Star S'mores?

Characters :
Luke Piewalker
Princess Parfaita
Flan Solo
Chewie
Only One Cannoli
Croda
Darth Baker

A long time ago in a cookies and milky way galaxy far, far away...

Spider at Work

We have a lot of hard working spiders here.

The Amazing Type

Paul Smith (21 September 1921 - 25 June 2007) .  It is his birthday today.  I thought it would be fitting to remember him,

Memory Lane

I haven't been able to catch family on Skype.
So  I am now missing them more than ever

especially since

I heard that the Manila flood waters were at it again the other day
(in spite all the digging and public works they had done there),
and that youngest brother is seeing sisters as he travels around the States,
and I had one missed Skype call from Father yesterday morning
and three missed Skype calls from Eldest Sis last night.

So I am posting these pictures
 (which family would surely understand)
to send out the message
that I am thinking of them.

Future Planting

One of the things I really like about Australia
is the fact that they are concerned
not only about today
but also about tomorrow.

See how big the trees are in this park?

Pretty big, right?

Yet the don't stop there.
They plant trees for the future,

Rows of trees.

I would really like to see these little ones grow up
to be tall and mighty like their older brothers.

Waiting for the Kids

It was still quite early when I went out.
The kids were still in bed.

Good Morning, Moon

Instead of going jogging this morning,
I decided to take pictures.

Some Bunny Loves You

We were walking home from the mall
when we saw the lights
and the huge rabbits, of course.

The gates to the old school were open
but one needed a (free) ticket to get in.

We got ourselves a pair of tickets,
went through the gates
and took these photos.

The rabbit exhibit symbolises the arrival of rabbits to Australia
and the indelible impact these silent intruders have had on the environment.
Mental illness is another silent intruder.

This exhibit is one of many campaigns for mental health month
that encourages everyone to talk about mental health illness
and gain a greater understanding for one another
in the local community.

As I posted in FB a couple of days after
Robin Williams passed away ...

BE KIND.
FOR EVERYONE YOU
MEET IS FIGHTING A
BATTLE YOU KNOW
NOTHING ABOUT.

So remember ... some bunny loves you!

Boyhood

Upon GI's recommendation, RD and I watched Boyhood today.

I'm kind of glad I didn't watch the trailer before I went into the movie house.

I didn't expect to see the little kid grow up into a young man.

I wondered if they had filmed a shot where the kid's hair was long before they did one where they practically shaved off his hair.

I wondered how they managed to film that scene at the baseball game.  (The stadium was jam packed and those "extras" seemed to be genuinely excited over the seemingly real baseball game.)

I had I observed Patricia Arquette change through the movie scenes and as with the children, she too grew older.  Ethan Hawke looked more or less the same all throughout the movie.

I had recently watched Mel Gibson in Forever Young so I knew that good make up can make one look younger AND older than you really are.  However, make up can only go so far, I could tell that the kids were growing up.

When we got home after the movie, I looked for the trailer and checked IMDb.  I discovered a lot of interesting facts about the movie.

The film was shot over the course of 12 years from May 2002 to August 2013.

They pieced together several 10 to 15 minute short films taken over the years.

The writer and director cast his daughter in the movie because she'd always wanted to be in one of his movies.

It was a real baseball game in the movie scene.  No wonder there were so many people!

The movie was life unfolding before your very eyes.

It was a good film.  Hope you get a chance to watch it.

Double Rainbow

For a very brief moment,
we were treated to not one, but two rainbows.

The colours were awesome!
