He Takes, She Takes

So the two of you are travelling from Launceston to Hobart, right?
And you want to take pictures but don't take your selfie stick with you.
You do have your respective mobile phones and a DSLR,
so this is what happens...

You decide to go to Cataract Gorge soon after arriving at Launceston.

She lets him walk ahead.

When he's several metres away, she takes a shot showing some perspective.

He turns around and does the same.

You get lucky to get a photo together if a kind lady offers to take the shot.

You decide to pass by one of the beaches along the way to Hobart.

He takes a selfie of the two of you.

She takes one too.

The next morning, you walk around and get some coffee.

She takes a picture of the coffee cups to document the date,

He takes a picture of her taking a picture of the coffee cups.

You decide to go on a lunch cruise.

She convinces him to go on deck for a while.

He takes a picture of her.

She takes one of him soon after.

While waiting for lunch to be served,
he takes a picture of her by the window.

As you are about to return to the wharf,
she takes a picture of him.

Before you headed for the airport, you drop by the MONA.

He takes a picture of the MONA sign but that picture doesn't get saved.
Not to worry, there is a picture of him taking the picture.

And that wraps up the taking pictures, picture taking story.

Remember, much as you love to take photos of the sights
(like this view of Hobart from Mt. Wellington)

...it's much better when you are part of the story.

Picture the Future

On the morning of the 15th, we were undecided on what to have for breakfast.  After we went to mass, we walked around town.  We passed by several coffee shops and restaurants but nothing called out to us.  We decided on coffee from Atlas Espresso. (Google reviews currently has a 4.9 star rating  for the place!)  It was a beautiful day and we ordered our coffee to go.

We walked around drinking our coffee.  When we passed by the wharf, I decided to take a photo of our coffee cups to document our breakfast date.  This photo was taken at the wharf.  I placed our cups on the bench and positioned them against the Spirit of Hobart as background.

After having our coffee, we walked back towards the Visitor Information Centre we had passed earlier.  We were not sure how we wanted to spend our day and we wanted to know what our options were.  It was already midday by then and some of the tours had already left, so in the end, we decided to go for the lunch cruise.

Going for the lunch cruise provided us with our tourist activity for the day and sorted out where we would have lunch.  When we finalised the cruise arrangements, I realised that we would be going on the Spirit of Hobart.  It was the same boat in the background of my coffee cups from earlier that morning.  When I took the coffee photo, I intentionally put the boat in the picture but had not imagined that we would actually get a chance to get on the boat.

We arrived back at the wharf in time to place our lunch orders. It seemed like a pretty small crew. The lady that took our orders at the booth on the wharf got into the boat as we were about to leave.

I stayed on deck quite a bit to enjoy the view.  I took a couple of pictures but what fascinated me was the mountain that towered over the city.  That was Mount Wellington.  From afar, I could see the cross that seemed to mark the highest point of the mountain.

Little did I know, we would get to step foot on Mount Wellington.

At the time I was taking all the photos of Hobart on the cruise, we had no plans of heading up there. In fact, the Mount Wellington trip was a last minute decision based on the check-out time from the hotel and the expected car rental drop off time at the airport.  We were trying to figure out what Hobart attractions we would conquer and experience before we left Tasmania on Wednesday and settled on Mount Wellington and MONA.

The drive up to Mount Wellington was an experience on its own.  The roads were narrow and winding.  At a certain point, we could see clouds BELOW us.  It is over 4,000 feet above sea level. And when we got there, it was snowing!

The view from Mount Wellington was awesome.  However, it was very, very windy and I held on tightly to my phone as I took some pictures.  I wish I could have stayed longer and taken more pictures but we knew we had to get moving.

The cruise and Mount Wellington were among the highlights of our trip.  To me they also represent imagination coming to life.  When I included them in my photos, I admit there was a tinge of "I wish we could" in there although I was not really expecting anything.

Somehow the forces of the universe enabled these wishes to come true.  So I say, Thank you!!!

Things We Discovered at the MONA

Before heading for the airport, we passed by the Museum of Old and New Art.

At the MONA, we found a reserved slot for God.

Apparently, God may be disabled...

...and God may have a mistress...

...  that drives a Prius.

Who knew?

Model Father

MacGyver is good at posing for photos.

These were taken on the 15th as we were strolling.

Blue Skies

I'm usually cooped up inside the building during the day.
It was beautiful outside this morning.

While I Was Sleeping

MacGyer came home from his night shift
and found our eight-legged friend watching over me as I slept.

(I would have been happier if the spider watched from a faraway corner.)
