M&M Crispy Mint !!

According to SlashM, green M&Ms are the best ones.
I didn't used to think so ... until I saw these on the grocery shelf.

Teriyaki

I made some teriyaki sauce for the fish we cooked for dinner yesterday.  This sauce will be enough for several meals, so we'll probably have chicken teriyaki one of these days.

Below is the recipe I used.  I usually only do half the recipe but I wanted to finish off the mirin before it 'died' on me, so we ended up with two small containers of sauce.

    Teriyaki glaze

    • 250ml soy sauce

    • 200ml mirin

    • 200ml sake

    • 60g  sugar

    • 2T molasses

    • 1. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and heat gently until the sugar completely dissolves.

      2. Remove from heat and allow to cool. This will keep for months in the refrigerator.

Check out the label c/o MyGirl.  She's learning Hiragana, aside from the language.
For those who can't read Japanese, it says, "3rd Month 29th Day; TERIYAKI"

Go Fish!

And not just any fish ... dilis!

This care package was brought to us by one of our HS batchmates,
fish lovingly caught and prepared by her husband.
Package was hand carried by his officemate from Perth to Sydney.
We picked these babies up last week
but since it was Holy Week,
we decided these will be opened on Easter.

Guess what's for breakfast tomorrow?

Skype?

I wasn't really paying attention and I thought Father was asking if I wanted to Skype.

MyGirl (who was seated beside me) gave me a funny look.  She tried to stop me but my fingers were too fast (faster than my brain apparently), because I quickly typed "ok" not wanting to snub Father.

The reason for the funny look dawned on me after I had sent the message.

In the first place, the question was not being asked TODAY.  In the second place, as you can see, I was the one asking him the question.

Oops!

Give a Little Love

We are reminded on Good Friday that Christ has given us so much.

In turn, let us do our part and give a little love.

Have a Happy Easter!

Kids at Play

I love watching the kids gather together on Saturday evening.

They were playing marbles the other weekend.

Last night, they were playing snap.
Don't ask me how snap is played with more than 2 players.
Somehow they figured it out.

I took a picture of MyGirl, taking a picture of her cousins taking pictures of themselves.

Apparently, in that short span of time,
these kids managed to take 96 'selfies'!

Kids these days!

4 Pics, 1 Word

MyGirl introduced me to the game
4 PICS 1 WORD

I love the homographs.

We found a way to go around the hard questions.
Compare common letters and guess the word,

I was ahead at this point.
Mom - 493, MyGirl - 485

But I got stuck at the 500.
And MyGirl was at 510.
Having all the letters certainly helps.

I was almost impressed
but then I came across this one..

So much for being AWESOME.

It's a Bug's Life

This is some random person's house number.

Do you think he/she likes insects?

How many bugs do you see?

New Pope, New Hope

When I checked my cellphone this morning, I had a message from London Eye.
She was advising me that a new pope had been elected.
It was the evening of 13 March 2013 in London (and in the Vatican).
I turned the TV on watched as the new pope emerged from the balcony.

I cried.

I was brought back to April 2005.
Pope John Paul II has just passed away.

I also cried then.

Many things were happening then.
Many things are happening now.

Today we have a new pope.
I will take this as a sign of new hope.

Viva il Papa!

One Size Does Not Fit All

As RD was getting ready to go out this morning, he tried to put his shoes on.  He couldn't quite get them on.  He wondered whether his socks were too thick.

After a while, he realised the problem was not the socks he was wearing but the shoes he was trying to wear.

"Oh!  These are size '6'.  Mine are size '9.'"

Can you guess which of the two brothers has bigger feet?
