Our anniversary falls on a Saturday this year but since MacGyver has work today,
I decided to take Friday off so that we could spend the day together.
For this year, we decided to drive to Jenolan Caves.
It's over 160 km away making it a 2 1/2 hour drive (at least).
We took the Lucas Cave tour which involved over 900 stair steps
in an hour and a half.
They say that some of the caves are over 340 million years old.
Did you know that it takes a hundred years for an inch of a stalactite to form?
Stalactites are the ones come from the ceiling (they hang on tight);
stalagmites are the ones that form from the floor (they might reach the top).
I thought these formations were really interesting.
This particular one clearly shows that the earth is moving.
(It is also one of the most photographed parts of the caves.)
Isn't it awesome?
Here we are trying our hand at getting a picture together.
We even wore matching batch shirts for the occasion.
They say that one is never too young or too old to visit the caves. But while I was inside, I thought that it is possible for one to be too wide or too tall since some of the caves are quite narrow and others have such low clearance. I'm glad we were "just right" because I enjoyed going through the caves.

The way I learned it is, the 'C' in stalaCtites are because they come from the Ceiling, and the 'G' in stalaGmites are because they come from the Ground. :)
